Jonathan’s second term will consolidate developments – Lawmaker
Rep. Jonathan Aminu (PDP-Plateau) on Thursday in Abuja said that President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration for second term would facilitate continued development of the country.
Aminu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that some sectors of the country’s economy had recorded tremendous improvements.
“When we look at some sectors of the economy that have been transformed, one will be very pleased to stand tall to talk about them.
“The aviation sector as you can see has some turnaround; the coming on board of the rail system that has been grounded for some years. This has also been revamped and we have seen progress in that direction,’’ Aminu said.
He added that the country was also recording some developments in the education sector, with the establishment of additional universities in the country.
The lawmaker also commended the Federal Government’s efforts in establishing federal universities in all the states of the federation.
He said that the development would address the needs of the growing population.
Aminu said that the current transformation of the agricultural sector had brought succor to farmers who, in the past, experienced difficulties in accessing fertiliser and other farm inputs.
According to him, agricultural policies of this administration has brought about a boost in agricutural activities and guaranteed food security in spite of the activities of insurgency.
