Shake-up in Army as new goc’s are appointed for Maiduguri, Ibadan
The Military High Command has effected a shake up in its hierarchy with the appointment of two new General Officers Commanding, GOCs for its divisions in Maiduguri in North East and Ibadan in South West.
The shake up which took place on the orders of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General KTJ Minimah, resulted in the appointment of Major General L.O. Adeosun, as the new General Officer Commanding the 7 Division Headquarters, Maiduguri.
This came as a suicide bomber in Yobe State, yesterday, killed four persons and injured others at a bus station, witnesses told the BBC.
Adeosun takes over from Major General Mohammed Ibrahim who was removed following a deluge of petitions against him by soldiers over their welfare.
Ibahim took over from Major General Mohammed, following the attack on by soldiers at Maimalari Barracks during a mutiny.
It was gathered that one of the reasons for the appointment of the new GOC is to reinvigorate the tempo of operations in the North East and checkmate the trend of sabotage by certain persons who have become familiar with the operations of the division in the battle to dislodge Boko Haram terrorists.
Before his appointment, Major General Adeosun served as the Chief of Logistics at Army headquarters and was before the development, the Brigade Commander, 14 Brigade, Abakiliki.
Also, Major General Sanusi Muazu who is the new GOC, 2 Division, Ibadan is taking over from Major General Abejirin, who has proceeded on retirement.
Muazu was the Commandant, Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji before the new appointment.
Also, General Abubakar is the new Chief of Administration at Army Headquarters.
He takes over from Major General Garba Wahab who has proceeded on retirement on age grounds. General Abubakar was until the new appointment, Director of Administration at the same department.
Major General Chukwu, the former Chief of Civil Military Affairs at Army Headquarters, has also proceeded on retirement after reaching the mandatory retirement age.
